Selecting the Correct Stainless Sleeve Anchor
Sleeve anchors can be used in both medium and heavy duty fastening applications in dead loads only. Stainless steel sleeve anchors are pre-assembled for faster installation. The design of concrete sleeve anchors improves holding power but it is still important to consider anchor length and spacing. Before installing a stainless sleeve anchor, make certain to review the tips below to ensure a safe installation with the strongest holding values. Once the spacing and required length of the sleeve anchor is determined, installation can begin.
Stainless Sleeve Anchors Spacing:
If the anchors are installed too close together, an interaction of forces between them may cause reduced holding power. A rule of thumb established by the expansion anchor industry isa minimum of ten (10) anchor diameters for spacing between anchors, and five (5) anchor diameters from an unsupported edge. When vibration or sudden impact is part of the load conditions, the spacing should be increased.
How to Determine the Length of Stainless Steel Sleeve Anchor:
The length of the sleeve anchor should equal minimum embedment, plus the thickness of the fixture. The nut and washer do not need to be added in. The length stainless sleeve anchors is measured from under the head, or under the nut and washer. The sleeve anchor requires no maximum hole depth. The depth of the hole in the base material should be at least the length of the anchor’s embedment into the base material plus ½”. This will provide some extra depth to accommodate a minor amount of concrete cuttings which might not be able to be cleaned out of the hole.
